I'm a programmer (like yourself probably). On the web I go by mrjmw. I've recently launched a web app that uses OpenCalais called SemantalyzR  (I know it's a fairly cheesy name but, its just a hobby/side project).

I think the OpenCalais service is great and I'm looking forward to OpenCalais and semantic technology improving the web.
