hi,

i am trying to understand the schema for calais
for some time now. is there any master schema that documents the fields
in various RDF subgraphs(PersonProfession

al,
InstanceInfo etc). Also what i see is some strange use of RDF. e.g.
There is a subgraph with type PersonProfessionalPast. Couldn't
PersonaProfessional just contain the time parameter with values past,
present, futrure, unknown etc ? Even more generically, why there are
two different type Person and PersonProfessional ? Can't we just create
Profession to be an attribute of Person ?

PS: Is there any
RDF guideline you are following while creating the structure of RDF ?
If you can share that it would be awesome.

thanks

Hi Ravinder -

Take a look at our documentation (http://opencalais.com/tools), where we describe the entities, events, facts, their attributes, and also include consideration information about Calais capabilities.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

my concern is about the structure of RDF. RDF is supposed to be genral and unlike XML which i think calais RDF output is becoming. Is there anything guiding the structure of RDF OpenCalais generates ?

As an aside, is the support of some ontology coming in some future version of calais ? One was promised long back (R2 ?) but didnt came :(. Any updates on that.

ravinder -

Could you please elaborate on "support of some ontology"?
Are you referring to a specific ontology you'd like to see Calais concepts mapped to, or to publishing the Calais ontology/schema -- which we are planning to release by the end of this year? (sorry about the delay..)

Let us know.
