The TOS document says "When deploying or utilizing Calais-derived content on your site or
within your application, you agree to display the Calais icon logo," and further requires that the logo not be resized or altered, and must be hyperlinked to the Calais site.

What constitutes "Calais-derived content?"

If I run my content through Calais, does every page containing content so processed have to meet these requirements?

I note that the Drupal module that you sponsored doesn't support this. :-)

Right now I'm running some tests, feeding local newspaper stories to Calais to see if the results might help us automatically link to related items.

But if we have to put a Calais logo on every story, well, that's just not going to work for us.

We (the Drupal module developers) had discussed having the module add a Calais block w/ logo to the footer region within Drupal, but we figured that each site would be much better served to integrate it into their own design however it moist makes sense so they can maintain their own brand identity. We can add one to make it easy to include if that was a desired feature, however.

These thoughts are not representative of Calais or Thomson Reuters opinions. We'll leave it up to Tom to speak for them (as he already has)

Steve:

We agree that having to put the logo on every page of a publication is a little much. We're all for attribution - but publishers have a brand / design they need to maintain and we don't want people to get sick of our bird.

We're open to suggestion - perhaps a small credit line / logo at the "portal" page for different news sections?
